Conversion Story

I wasn't really raised in a religious family. When I went to church it was usually with a friend and his family. When I was walking by the local parochial school I was thinking to myself "why can't I be like those kids?" It really took about nineteen years before I would truly hand myself over to God. I did some things that were wrong and I got caught and I was sent to jail. That first night there I got down on my knees and finally accepted God into my life. When I was sentenced and sent out to prison I totally forgot about my commitment to Christ. it took about three years before I went to a chapel service. my first Chapel service was a nondenominational service it was during that service that I was baptized and when I was done I still felt that emptiness inside. It was that Sunday evening that I decided to go Sunday Mass. it was there that I felt that God was talking to me. It was during the elevation of the host and chalice during the consecration that I felt it in my heart that God was speaking to me. After that Mass I started to go to Rosary, Catechism class, and I even joined in the choir. It was through the example of a fellow inmate his name was Doug Austin that I even started to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. It was on July 21, 2013 that I was brought into full communion with the Church. When Father put the Sacred Chrism on my forehead and said "Be Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit" I felt that peace and belonging that I was searching for.
